GANADO, Ariz. – Sage Memorial Hospital welcomed Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs on Wednesday, August 26, during the hospital’s 96th anniversary celebration. The visit highlighted the importance of rural and tribal healthcare and recognizing the hospital’s ongoing commitment to serving communities across the Navajo Nation and northeastern Arizona.
During the visit, Governor Hobbs toured hospital facilities, met with healthcare professionals, and learned about programs that support patients and families throughout the region. She also addressed attendees on the significance of healthcare access and the role organizations such as Sage Memorial Hospital play in supporting Arizona’s rural and tribal communities.
“Governor Katie Hobbs, we are honored and delighted to welcome you as our distinguished guest,” said Delores Noble, Chairwoman of the Sage Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. “Your support has been instrumental in advancing the new services that will benefit our people. You have demonstrated a strong commitment to our cause, to the Indigenous nations of the State of Arizona, and to Sage Memorial Hospital.”
Hospital leadership shared information about the organization’s continued efforts to expand access to quality healthcare services and strengthen health outcomes for the communities it serves.
Today, we carry that legacy forward through growth, innovation, and a continued commitment to keeping care close to home,” said Melinda White CEO. “We have expanded specialty services, reopened surgical services, achieved certification as a Primary Care Medical Home, and are preparing to open labor and delivery services. We are launching non-emergent medical transportation, expanding elder care initiatives, pursuing outpatient dialysis services, and strengthening access to care for the communities we serve.”
